REFLEXOLOGY

What is reflexology?

The art of reflexology dates back to ancient Egypt, India & China. In the 1930’s Eunice Ingham developed what is recognised as the modern reflexology used in the western world.

ReflexologyIt is based on the science that there are reflex areas on the hands, feet & ears that relate to the different parts of the body. By stimulating these using the pressure of the thumbs & fingers, it helps the body to heal & balance itself.

Who can benefit from reflexology?

Reflexology is suitable for all ages & may bring relief from a wide range of chronic conditions. After having completed a course of reflexology for a specific condition, many people find it beneficial to continue with regular treatments in order to maintain health & well-being.

Many healthcare professionals recognise reflexology as a well established, respected & effective therapy.

How can reflexology help me?

It can be used to help restore & maintain the body’s natural equilibrium. This gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance & has been shown to be effective for:

  • Back pain
  • Migraine
  • Infertility
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Stress-related conditions
  • Arthritis
  • Sports injuries
  • Sleep disorders

Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe.

Treatments with Elaine

The International Institute of Reflexology is the only organisation to teach the techniques of Eunice Ingham.  After qualifying with the Institute, Elaine qualified as an Advanced Reflexologist with Anthony Porter, one-time European Director of the International Institute of Reflexology.  He developed techniques he learned in the Far East.  She is therefore able to incorporate techniques from the Western world as well as those from the Far East which are best suited to each individual client & their specific needs.

She has also attended master classes in London with Dwight Byers, the nephew of Eunice Ingham & undertaken additional reflexology training specifically in the field of Fertility & Pregnancy.

Continual professional development is required by the Institute & the Association of Reflexologists & she is bound by their Code of Ethics.
